An opening ident for a weekly news review: the week’s world, assembled slice by slice.
Designed natively for 16:9 and 9:16, never cropped. Also on YouTube ↗︎
The task
Create an ident for a weekly news programme that feels modern and serious, reads instantly as news, and ends on a clean logo in both horizontal and vertical formats.
The idea
A week is made of days, so the globe is made of seven slices, Monday to Sunday. They arrive one by one with a red glowing edge and lock into place, and on Sunday a thin red orbit closes around the finished globe and the THE WEEK logo.
How it was made
We built the globe as a real 3D scene: graphite slices with the continents traced in light lines, a red edge on every slice and one soft key light.
The scene was path-traced and composited with depth of field and motion blur. Camera moves land on the beats of the music.
The vertical version was rebuilt with its own camera rather than cropped from the horizontal film.
